Alta Vista Rates and Qualifications

Apartments are rented on a month-to-month lease, which means a tenant need not have a long-term lease. A tenant can stay as long as desired--from several months to decades to an indeterminate period, as long as he or she is able to live as an independent Christian Scientist without the need for sheltered care or assisted care.

There are 2 types of apartments: studios and one-bedrooms. Rents are based on your income: studios rent from $1100 to as low as $350, and one-bedrooms from $1500 to $1240.

Minimum qualifications upon application:
1. An active Christian Scientist.
2. At least 55 years old.*
3. Five years membership in The Mother Church.
4. Five years active membership in a branch church(es).
5. An on-site visit.
6. A personal interview on site.

Note: A spouse does not need to be a Christian Scientist, but must support the activities and atmosphere of a Christan Science community.

*One spouse must be at least 50 years old and the other spouse at least 55 years old and a Christian Scientist.
