Santa Barbara is 90 miles up the coast from Los Angeles. The weather is Mediterranean, which means it is rarely hot, almost never humid, and mostly sunny. The weather is not the same as in Los Angeles or in San Francisco--it's nicer! Santa Barbara is known as the American Riviera.

Apartments are not air-conditioned because it is not needed. Each room in an apartment has a three-speed ceiling fan. During winter months you may need a sweater when you are outside.
