Alta
Vista Foundation is a non-profit, charitable California corporation
organized in 1969 to carry out the provisions of a trust created by
Constance Chambers. Her desire to provide quality low-cost residential
housing for Christian Scientists continues at Alta Vista today thanks
to the Chambers bequest and ongoing donations.
In 1971
the present property was purchased. In 1976 a fifth building was erected
comprising four more apartments. Over the years apartments have been
reconfigured to provide more one-bedrooms than the few available in
1971. Currently there are 12 studios and 12 one-bedrooms.
In 2005-2006
the entire property was renovated from stem to stern, including kitchens,
bathrooms, carpeting, blinds, grounds, drainage, sidewalks, and a complete
repainting of the interiors as well as the exteriors. Alta Vista is
now ready to serve active Christian Scientists in the 21st Century.
